Idlib was not just a geographic area, it has been and still is the heart and pulse of the Syrian revolution It is the land that embraced the dreams of Syrians for freedom and dignity, making sacrifice after sacrifice without expecting reward or recognition Despite all this, after the fall of the ousted regime, Idlib disappeared from view, finding no one to console it in its ruins and wounds, or to stand with its people exhausted by the brutality of the regime that lasted 14 years using the most horrific tools of killing and destruction, from barrel bombs to chemical weapons and internationally banned explosives

Despite what Idlib has faced, it was not given the chance to be part of the new Syria the revolutionaries dreamed of Instead, it was stripped of its sacrifices and described as a refuge for monsters, in a systematic distortion that hides the true extent of its people’s suffering

Idlib between destruction and resilience

Idlib continues to pay the price to this day Assad’s missiles have not stopped killing its people, not only through direct bombardment but also through war remnants and landmines planted by the regime and its militias over years of conflict Hundreds of villages and areas remain uninhabitable, and thousands of families are prevented from returning to their homes and lands because of hidden dangers even olive trees, once a symbol of life for the people of Idlib, were not spared from destruction, uprooted violently, depriving their owners of both livelihood and historic connection to the land

Yet Idlib remains resilient, great despite its wounds, strong despite its pain, and merciful despite the cruelty it has endured Idlib will remain the Syria we believe in, the Syria that has not abandoned its revolution, that has not surrendered its unity, a Syria that bleeds but refuses to be broken
